It's Tier 2 race day at Silverstone. Lights out at 19:00 UK tonight, and this one could flip the championship on its head.
The leader isn't here. Heartshapedtox tops the Tier 2 standings on 49 points, but after stepping up to Tier 1 with Aston Martin, those points stay frozen. That leaves the door wide open behind him.
Stef is the man in position. On 43 points, the Racing Bulls driver needs just a sixth-place finish to go top of the table. He's also the only Tier 2 race winner on the grid tonight: Heartshapedtox won in Australia and Kurtis in Saudi Arabia, and neither is racing in Tier 2 any more.
But his teammate is close. Pofi is 12 points behind Stef on 37, and he's finished in the top four every time out (P4, P4, P3). A podium tonight puts him firmly in the fight. Wxrrior, on 30 for Alpine, needs a win to have any hope of top spot.
Racing Bulls in control. Stef and Pofi have Racing Bulls on 80 points in the constructors' standings, 27 clear of Cadillac. Without Heartshapedtox, Cadillac will do well to hold on to second.
Expect a fast one. Earlier today Mifko took Tier 1 pole with a 1:27.364, and Rayaan topped Tier 3 qualifying on 1:28.589. Based on those, the site's prediction puts tonight's Tier 2 pole at around 1:27.9.
Silverstone history. Last season Mste won the Tier 2 race here, ahead of Freddie and Godzil, with Matt on pole. Freddie is back tonight and will want to repeat that after a 12-point penalty left him on -4. Matt is also chasing better luck after two DNFs in three races.
One to watch: Odhran. He took pole in Japan but has retired from all three races so far and is still waiting for his first points. A clean race could change that fast.
New faces. Hazzk and Owencfc18 line up for Williams, Umar joins Ferrari, Jker joins McLaren, and RJ continues at Alpine. Who makes the best first impression?
Four rounds in, three different winners, and the top of the table about to change. Don't miss it.
